Project Manager (Hydrogen Systems)

Location: Johnstown, New York 12095, United States; frequent travel to domestic U.S. customer sites and jurisdictional offices, up to 100% of the time.

Salary: $86,400–$135,000 per year.

What you will do

• Manage the pre-construction phase for hydrogen system deployments, including third-party engineering, contractor bids, permitting, schedules, and budgets.
• Coordinate presentations and approvals with Authorities Having Jurisdiction, including fire marshals, zoning boards, towns, and counties.
• Follow up with local authorities and agencies in person to resolve issues and prevent project delays.
• Read and interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, identify missing components, and coordinate corrections with suppliers and contractors.
• Align industrial gas companies, internal project teams, contractors, regulators, and end-customers throughout deployment projects.
• Improve pre-construction workflows, permitting playbooks, project forecasts, and construction start-date accuracy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanical, electrical, or a related field.
• At least three years of experience in project-based engineering and construction project management, including pre-construction workflows and complex building or environmental permits.
• Experience presenting to and influencing Authorities Having Jurisdiction to secure approvals without delays.
• Mechanical systems expertise, troubleshooting ability, and experience reviewing engineering submittal packages for errors.
• Ability to manage complex projects, resolve bottlenecks, deliver on time and on budget, and maintain strong attention to detail.
• Ability to travel frequently within the United States, up to 100% of the time.

Nice to have

• PMP certification.
• Experience with hydrogen or fuel cells, cryogenic systems, high-pressure systems, gas processing or dispensing equipment, oil and gas, CNG, LNG, logistics, or material handling.
• Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and related project software.
