Power Electronics Engineering Manager

Location: San Francisco, United States; onsite role

Base salary: $160,000–$215,000 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead, manage, and grow a team of junior and senior power electronics engineers.
• Define spacecraft power requirements and architectures with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Oversee the design, construction, implementation, verification, and debugging of power converters and systems.
• Drive converter specifications, component selection, circuit board design, board bring-up, and testing.
• Manage development schedules in alignment with the overall spacecraft program.
• Support production and mission operations teams, as well as recruiting and hiring activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering or a similar technical discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience with fast-paced product design cycles.
• 5+ years of board-level experience designing power electronics hardware from concept through production.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing hardware from scratch.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage engineering teams and communicate across disciplines.
• US Citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or another protected status is required due to US space technology export regulations.

• Experience with photovoltaics.
• Experience with Li-ion batteries and battery management systems.
• Experience with magnetics in power electronics.
• Knowledge of radiation effects.
