Registered Nurse, RN - R4 Med Surg (Med Surg)

Location: R4 Med Surg Unit, Saints Campus, Lowell General Hospital, 1 Hospital Drive, Lowell, Massachusetts, United States. Full-time day and night shifts are available.

Salary: $37.50–$68.47 per hour, based on full-time equivalent.

What you will do

• Provide direct professional nursing care to patients and families according to established policies, procedures, physician orders, and the nursing process.
• Conduct and document clinical assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Use nursing judgment to adapt care plans, coordinate patient assignments, and delegate tasks based on patient needs and team-member skills.
• Educate patients and families, support informed decisions and advance directives, and coordinate discharge plans, referrals, and community resources.
• Apply evidence-based practice, participate in performance improvement initiatives and departmental committees, and pursue professional development.
• Support new staff members and guide professional growth through precepting.

Requirements

• Massachusetts RN license required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Department-specific certifications relevant to the patient population may be required.
• RN experience must meet the applicable Community RN Career Direct Care Pathway level: Level I requires less than 12 months; Level II requires 12 months to less than 3 years; Level III requires 3 to less than 8 years; Level IV requires 8 years.
• Strong communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team, plus knowledge of the nursing process.
• The role involves prolonged standing and walking, patient turning and occasional lifting of 30–35 pounds, and exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, and potentially carcinogenic chemicals.
