Associate Accountant

Location: Richmond, Virginia; Lynchburg, Virginia; or hybrid work from home

What you will do

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual state and federal tax filings.
• Monitor and reconcile federal and state withholding payments and resolve discrepancies with agencies.
• Automate and maintain account reconciliations in CERT and complete quarterly account reconciliation reviews.
• Perform monthly close activities, including journal entries, analysis, balancing, and reconciliations.
• Lead process improvement initiatives covering requirements gathering, solution identification, issue resolution, and implementation.
• Support accounting research, KPMG and GCAS audit requests, special projects, and surge needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent accounting experience.
• Experience with project management and functional process improvement.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities while collaborating with a team.
• Advanced Excel skills.
