TL;DR
Operational Accountant (Accounting Operations): Supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, reconciliations, cash management, financial reporting, and operational accounting with an accent on U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and accounting accuracy. Focus on analyzing variances, improving workflows, supporting audits, and participating in system implementations and process automation.
Location: Cleveland, Ohio, United States; onsite/hybrid
Salary: W2 hourly rate of $50–70, depending on experience

What you will do
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes and prepare accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and operational reports.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, fixed assets, accruals, and treasury-related activities.
- Analyze balance sheet and income statement activity, investigate discrepancies, and report variances.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to requests.
- Improve accounting workflows and internal controls, and participate in system implementations, automation, and special projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of progressive accounting experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, consulting, or a combination.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting best practices.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial close activities.
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, analytical ability, attention to detail, and strong stakeholder communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with process improvement, automation tools, or system implementations.
- CPA, CPA-track status, or an equivalent professional certification.
