Business Banking Underwriter IV

Location: Columbus, OH, United States; office workplace

Base salary: $77,000–$154,000 USD annual salary, plus eligibility for applicable incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Underwrite business banking loans, including complex credit structures and customer exposures up to $10MM.
• Review financial and credit application information to make sound credit decisions and assess borrower risk.
• Use single approval authority up to $4MM and make independent lending decisions.
• Maintain an individual underwriting pipeline and support business banking production.
• Train and mentor new hires and support Underwriter I–III job families.
• Collaborate with credit and segment risk teams and act as a backup for the manager in team meetings and huddles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 7+ years of experience in business or commercial underwriting within a centralized lending environment.
• Ability to assess borrower risk and make credit decisions independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, attention to detail, and follow-up skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks independently while maintaining quality.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet resources.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
• 3–4 years of leadership or management experience.
• Ability to underwrite credit exposures above $4MM.
• Previous authority to underwrite and approve credits without additional signers.
