Senior Underwriter Mid-Market (Workers Compensation)

Location: Florida, United States; the role requires residence in Florida and legal authorization to work in the United States.

Salary: $101,000–$127,000 USD annual base pay, plus bonus pay.

What you will do

• Review workers compensation applications, renewals, and change requests to assess risk and determine whether to accept, decline, or mitigate coverage.
• Set appropriate premiums, limits, coverage terms, and pricing within delegated underwriting authority.
• Approve or decline applications, issue coverage, and refer risks exceeding individual authority.
• Document risk analysis and pricing justifications while ensuring compliance with industry and government regulations.
• Process accounts from approved quotes through policy issuance and use databases and specialized software to verify and compare risk data.
• Build producer relationships, advise clients on risk reduction, collaborate with underwriting teams, and mentor colleagues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of related experience.
• 5–10 years of workers compensation underwriting or related insurance experience.
• Experience underwriting construction, hospitality, real estate, and manufacturing risks.
• Strong customer service, collaboration, adaptability, and willingness to learn.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn industry-specific software.
• Must reside in Florida and be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• CPCU, CIC, CRIS, Property & Casualty Broker’s License, or similar credentials.
