Construction Project and Design Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Hybrid role in Kulim, Malaysia, with time split between the assigned hirify.global site and off-site work

hirify.global's Global Construction Engineering organization designs and engineers major semiconductor manufacturing and cleanroom facilities worldwide.

What you will do

• Develop discipline scopes and engineering solutions for semiconductor construction projects.
• Define design criteria, develop concepts, justify scope, and oversee positioning, programming, and detailed design.
• Lead multidisciplinary design coordination across project managers, facilities teams, factory partners, contractors, schedulers, and estimators.
• Align design execution with project objectives, schedules, budgets, cost targets, and constructability requirements.
• Apply hirify.global specifications and standards, manage design changes, and drive continuous improvement and innovative solutions.
• Promote a strong safety culture throughout planning, design, construction, and execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in facilities engineering, project engineering, design engineering, or design management for semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or similar industrial facilities.
• Experience coordinating construction contract documents, engineering deliverables, multidisciplinary teams, and external architect-engineer partners.
• Strong communication, collaboration, planning, problem-solving, decision-making, and workload management skills.
• Knowledge of construction, start-up, commissioning, facility systems, cleanrooms, building and fire codes, hazardous occupancies, and applicable engineering standards.
• Commitment to safety, quality, accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation.

Nice to have

• Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience as a Design Manager, Engineering Manager, or Lead Discipline Engineer on semiconductor facility projects.
• Experience managing architect-engineer firms and coordinating design deliverables from concept through construction.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, P/IDs PipeFlo, ETAP/SKM, power system studies, and BIM.
• Professional Engineer registration and experience with process hazard analysis, HAZOP reviews, utility and process systems, equipment selection, and industrial facility codes.
