Senior AI Scientist (Mid-Market Intelligence)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $180,000–$243,500 per year, with potential cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build, evaluate, and deploy AI systems using LLMs, multi-agent architectures, retrieval, tool use, prompt and context engineering, and fine-tuning.
• Develop intelligent automation and decision-support systems for mid-market ERP customers by combining generative AI with classical machine learning.
• Analyze large financial, operational, and transactional datasets, perform ETL, and create model-ready features, context, and retrieval strategies.
• Design evaluation frameworks with offline evaluations, golden datasets, LLM-as-judge methods, and quality and safety guardrails.
• Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and designers on experiments, minimum viable products, human-in-the-loop workflows, and explainability patterns.
• Run A/B tests and online experiments, apply statistical analysis, communicate results, and assess emerging AI technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, operations research, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of industry experience spanning classical machine learning and generative AI.
• Experience with LLM APIs, orchestration frameworks, prompt and context engineering, RAG, vector search, tool use, function calling, fine-tuning, and evaluation or guardrail frameworks.
• 3+ years of experience with Python and modern analytical tools, including scikit-learn, PyTorch, or similar technologies.
• Experience with data mining, statistical modeling, A/B testing, offline and online evaluation, and statistically sound analysis.
• Proficiency with SQL, Hive, or SparkSQL; comfort working in Linux and explaining technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Hands-on development and production rollout of LLM-powered or agentic experiences.
• Experience with large-scale data processing using Spark or PySpark.
