Mechanical Engineer (Semiconductor Equipment)

Location: Plainview, New York, United States

Salary: $65,000–$83,000 per year, plus a bonus opportunity.

What you will do

• Design and develop mechanical systems, vacuum assemblies, and precision components for advanced wafer processing equipment.
• Support overall system design, vacuum vessel design, ion beam source design, and integration of OEM components.
• Perform heat transfer, structural mechanics, fluid flow, and motion-system analyses and calculations.
• Support prototype assembly, testing, debugging, and design verification, using test results to improve designs.
• Prepare technical presentations, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, bills of materials, documentation, and test reports.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with SolidWorks, Inventor, ProE, or a similar 3D CAD system.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and the ability to perform engineering analyses.
• Hands-on ability with devices, prototyping, troubleshooting, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical presentation ability.
• Ability to travel up to 20% to customer sites and supplier facilities.

Nice to have

• Finite element analysis experience in structural or thermal applications.
• Experience in project teams or research groups.
• Academic, internship, or project knowledge of semiconductors, ion beam technology, or vacuum physics.
• Experience with SAP or a similar PLM system.
