Vacuum Systems Mechanical Engineer

Location: Denver, Colorado; full-time onsite at headquarters

What you will do

• Lead the design, integration, operation, and testing of vacuum systems for rare-gas/halide excimer lasers.
• Develop pump-down and vent procedures and analyze pressure drop, flow budgets, humidification, and gas purity.
• Design vacuum equipment and subsystems using NX CAD and select gas-analysis instrumentation such as RGAs and FTIR systems.
• Integrate vacuum architectures with controls and related mechanical, laser, pulsed-power, and optical systems.
• Manage vessel certifications, proof tests, code compliance, procurement, assembly, shakedown, and operational support.
• Lead prototype design efforts and contribute to scaling systems for power-producing inertial fusion reactors.

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical, Nuclear, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of mechanical engineering experience focused on vacuum-system design for complex hardware.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software, preferably NX, plus working knowledge of FEA.
• Knowledge of high-purity gas delivery components and standard equipment.
• Experience with complex integrated systems, hands-on troubleshooting, testing, and interdisciplinary engineering.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, current U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.

Nice to have

• Experience in semiconductor, solar, R&D, nuclear, fusion energy, laser, or defense industries.
• Startup experience.
