Senior System Integration & Test Engineer

Location: Boulder, Colorado, United States; on-site

Salary: $170,000–$200,000 base salary per year, plus annual bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Install and verify optical, laser-delivery, mechanical, and electronic assemblies against approved system configurations.
• Align beam-delivery and imaging paths, establish beam geometry and polarization, and complete fiber and RF/control connections.
• Measure optical throughput, beam quality, and alignment stability using approved diagnostics and metrology.
• Diagnose cross-subsystem interface and alignment issues with laser, controls, and subsystem engineers.
• Complete safety, controls, and readiness checks while maintaining safe laser-laboratory practices.
• Document configurations, measurements, open issues, installation sequences, and repeatable alignment methods for QE handoff and future builds.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in physics, optical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent integration experience; an MS is preferred.
• 5+ years of hands-on integration and alignment experience with precision laser, optical, or atomic-physics systems involving multiple subsystems.
• Strong skills in free-space optical alignment, fiber coupling, polarization control, and end-to-end optical troubleshooting.
• Experience with optical power meters, beam cameras, optical layouts, mechanical references, electrical connections, and interface-control documentation.
• Working understanding of neutral-atom hardware, including trapping, optical addressing, and imaging.
• Clear communication with quantum physicists and specialist integration engineers, with precise records and safe laboratory practices.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating quantum-computing or atomic, molecular, and optical laboratory hardware.
• Experience collaborating with experimental physicists.
• Familiarity with RF/control interfaces and laboratory scripting.
