Director, Product & Regulatory Compliance Counsel (Mortgage Technology)

Location: Hybrid in Jacksonville, Florida, or remote within the United States. Travel is 5% or less.

Salary: USD 144,000–176,000 per year, plus eligibility for a company profit-sharing bonus plan.

What you will do

• Monitor federal, state, investor, and agency regulatory changes and assess their impact on mortgage technology products.
• Translate regulations into business and functional requirements for product and engineering teams.
• Own compliance policies, procedures, risk assessments, controls, findings, and remediation tracking.
• Coordinate responses to client audits, vendor due-diligence questionnaires, regulator inquiries, SOC audits, and third-party risk reviews.
• Support client-reported production compliance issues, determine regulatory impact and defect priority, and communicate changes through release notes, advisories, and webinars.
• Deliver employee compliance training and report key risks to leadership.

Requirements

• Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school and admission to practice law in the appropriate jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of mortgage compliance experience, preferably with a lender or mortgage technology company.
• In-depth knowledge of federal mortgage regulations, GSE and agency guidelines, and state requirements.
• Experience running or supporting compliance programs, including policies, audits, and client or regulator inquiries.
• Experience translating regulations into product requirements and explaining complex rules clearly in writing.
• Strong judgment when handling live client issues under time pressure.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of GLBA, state privacy laws, data protection requirements, and emerging AI/model governance expectations.
