Senior Data Engineer (Fintech)

Location: U.S. Remote; attendance at company-wide onsite events three times per year is expected.

Base salary: $175,000–$195,000 per year plus equity.

What you will do

• Own the architecture and implementation of the data platform, including Redshift Serverless, replication, orchestration, dbt transformation, and Cube semantic models.
• Build reliable pipelines from Aurora/RDS and application databases while handling PII, multi-tenancy, data residency, and row-level security requirements.
• Develop dimensional models, governed metrics, data quality checks, automated testing, lineage, documentation, and metadata.
• Improve query performance, warehouse cost, pipeline reliability, observability, alerting, and incident response.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Customer Operations, GTM, Finance, Security, and Compliance to support reporting, product analytics, and regulated data workflows.
• Evaluate new platform capabilities such as streaming, CDC, data catalogs, and next-generation BI or semantic layers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of data engineering experience, including ownership of data platforms, pipelines, and data quality.
• Strong production SQL and Python experience with modern data stacks, warehouses, orchestration, transformation, and BI or semantic layers.
• Hands-on experience with Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, dbt, and replication technologies such as CDC, DMS, Airbyte, or Fivetran.
• Knowledge of dimensional modeling, data grain, slowly changing dimensions, semantic layers, governed metrics, and data quality practices.
• Experience with AWS data services, infrastructure as code, PII, multi-tenant data, row-level security, and compliance requirements in regulated domains.
• Senior-level ownership, cross-functional communication, mentoring, and pragmatic build-versus-buy decision-making.

Nice to have

• Experience with Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or Mage.
• Experience with real-time data, streaming, Kafka, Kinesis, Debezium, or other CDC patterns.
• Experience with BI, data observability, cataloging, Kubernetes, Docker, or containerized data workloads.
• Background in fintech, payments, benefits, healthcare, data science workflows, or ML pipelines.
