Senior Data Engineer (Fintech): Building scalable data platforms, pipelines, and models for analytics, reporting, customer insights, and business-critical decision making with an accent on cloud data platforms, ETL/ELT, and data quality. Focus on integrating disparate sources, modernising financial data environments, supporting CI/CD, and troubleshooting production pipelines.
Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia; hybrid working environment
Salary: AUD 180,000–200,000 per annum plus superannuation

What you will do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
- Build and maintain cloud-based data platforms, data models, and transformation processes.
- Integrate data from internal and external sources, improving data quality, reliability, and performance.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions with analysts, engineers, architects, and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to data architecture, engineering standards, CI/CD, and automated deployment practices.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production data pipelines while supporting modernisation initiatives.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in data engineering.
- Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience building production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Strong understanding of data modelling and data warehousing.
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Experience with APIs, disparate data integration, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Exposure to Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, or Airflow.
- Experience in banking, financial services, or another highly regulated environment.
