Senior Staff Optical Reliability Engineer (Optical Semiconductors)

What you will do

• Own product qualification and reliability activities for silicon photonics light engines, co-packaged optics assemblies, and pluggable optical transceivers.
• Prepare qualification plans and define, verify, and deliver qualification hardware for HTOL, DH, HAST, and related stress tests.
• Coordinate qualification testing with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and external laboratories.
• Use FMEA to identify and mitigate product reliability risks in collaboration with design, package, product engineering, and supplier teams.
• Analyze reliability data, predict product lifetime, and maintain FIT/MTBF estimates.
• Drive failure analysis, ongoing reliability monitoring, vendor qualification, and customer-facing qualification reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field with 5–10 years of experience; or a master’s/PhD with 3–5 years of experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in product qualification and reliability testing of optical or optoelectronic semiconductor products.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor lasers, silicon photonics, co-packaged or near-package optics, and pluggable transceivers.
• Deep knowledge of semiconductor components, assembly, advanced packaging, and JEDEC, Telcordia GR-468, and MIL-STD qualification standards.
• Experience with HTOL, DH, HAST, thermal cycling, HTS, ESD, LU, reliability data analysis, and statistical analysis.
• Experience with JMP, Minitab, ReliaSoft, and Python scripting for data collection or processing.
