Software Engineer - AI Platform (Senior-Staff)

Location: Richmond, VA, United States

Salary: $160,000–$220,000 per year, plus bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and operate LLM-backed pipelines for document extraction, classification, and validation.
• Develop evaluation datasets, regression suites, and business-focused accuracy metrics.
• Build review workflows for confirming and correcting AI-generated output.
• Own production reliability through prompt versioning, structured output validation, retries, fallbacks, and cost and latency management.
• Partner with the litigation management team to identify high-value AI applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience with strong fundamentals.
• Production experience with LLM APIs, including prompting, structured outputs, retrieval, and tool use.
• Experience working with messy real-world data, including OCR PDFs, scanned faxes, and handwritten forms.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience working with Scala, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Elasticsearch, or AWS.
