Senior Firmware Engineer (Embedded Linux)

Location: Onsite at the hirify.global campus in Lafayette, Colorado, United States. Candidates must have unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and throughout employment; sponsorship is not available for roles below Principal level.

Salary: $116,800–$175,200 annual base salary, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded software applications in C and C++ on Linux-based systems.
• Contribute across requirements, architecture, implementation, integration, verification, maintenance, and sustainment activities.
• Develop embedded Linux platform services, device interfaces, and application-level functionality.
• Integrate software with cameras, displays, sensors, and communication interfaces.
• Implement secure boot, over-the-air updates, diagnostics, and system monitoring features.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, systems, and mechanical engineering teams, maintain regulated development documentation, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of embedded software development experience, or a master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++ and experience developing embedded systems in Linux environments.
• Experience with USB, UART, I2C, and SPI communication interfaces.
• Experience with hardware-software debugging, integration activities, and version control systems.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required; H-1B, TN, J, and other sponsorship is unavailable for this Senior-level role.

Nice to have

• Real-time software development for microprocessor-based systems.
• Qt or LVGL, embedded driver development, Python, or shell scripting.
• Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, aerospace, or defense.
• Knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 14971, and ISO 13485.
