Senior Software Engineering Manager (Medical Devices)

Location: Newton, Massachusetts, United States; minimum four days per week onsite. Candidates must have unrestricted U.S. work authorization; sponsorship is not available for this role.

Salary: $175,200–$262,800 per year, plus eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead and develop a software engineering team responsible for core product software.
• Set technical direction, development priorities, and execution plans aligned with product and business strategy.
• Oversee release planning, risk management, defect resolution, and continuous improvement.
• Guide software architecture, cybersecurity, testing, documentation, and engineering best practices.
• Recruit, coach, mentor, and retain engineering talent.
• Contribute technical assessments, roadmap input, and tradeoff analysis to product strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience and 5+ years of managerial experience, or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience and 5+ years of managerial experience.
• Experience with Python and C++.
• Experience leading software engineering teams in a regulated environment.
• Expertise in software architecture, product development, testing methodologies, and team development.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at hire and throughout employment.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded software, real-time systems, imaging, mapping, or medical device platforms.
• Familiarity with medical device software quality processes and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with agile development, platform or product software organizations, sustaining engineering, and post-market software issues.
