Senior Backend-Focused Developer (Python)

Location: Montreal, Quebec, or Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; hybrid with a minimum of 3 days per week in a Bell office.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend APIs and microservices.
• Build and scale a cloud-native network orchestration and automation platform using a Network as Code approach.
• Translate complex networking and security requirements into reliable software logic.
• Drive software architecture evolution, technical decisions, and sustainable technical-debt reduction.
• Ensure unit and integration testing, zero-regression quality, CI/CD compliance, and technical documentation.
• Mentor developers and collaborate with Product Owners, developers, and external network experts.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong Python and modern backend framework experience, preferably FastAPI.
• Experience with cloud-native microservices, OpenShift or Kubernetes, CI/CD, automated testing, SQL databases, and Agile development.
• Good knowledge of TypeScript, object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, and a frontend framework such as Vue.js.
• For positions in Quebec, adequate knowledge of French is required.
• Successful candidates must be based in Canada and work from a Bell office at least 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Networking and cybersecurity experience with technologies such as Fortinet, Cisco, Meraki, or Arista.
• Knowledge of integrating AI capabilities such as LLMs, RAG, or LangChain into enterprise software.
• Experience with event-driven architecture using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Additional frontend development experience with Vue.js.
