R&D Welding Technician (AI)

What you will do

• Fabricate and weld qualification test articles and large structural assemblies for a new welding capability.
• Perform hand welding with laser and arc processes on first-of-a-kind hardware.
• Set up and execute orbital tube welding operations to specification.
• Operate, support, set up, and troubleshoot robotic welding cells.
• Read engineering drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T, and maintain build documentation for qualification and traceability.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with both laser and arc hand welding.
• Experience with orbital tube welding and robotic welding equipment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T.
• Comfort working in an ambiguous, first-of-a-kind R&D environment rather than a fixed production line.
• Must meet U.S. Government ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

• Prior aerospace or defense welding experience.
• AWS D17.1 or NADCAP welding exposure.
• Experience supporting weld procedure or process qualification, including WPS/PQR.
• Robotic weld cell programming or teach-pendant experience.
• Experience with qualification-article or first-article builds.
