Claims Specialist – Corporate Solutions

Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia; hybrid work with an expectation of being in the office at least three days per week

What you will do

• Manage a portfolio of casualty claims from notification through resolution, delivering timely and commercially sound outcomes.
• Assess coverage, liability, quantum, reserving requirements, evidence, expert reports, and legal opinions.
• Develop claim strategies, provide settlement recommendations, and escalate significant or complex matters.
• Manage litigation, dispute resolution, recovery, and subrogation activities.
• Build relationships with brokers, insureds, underwriters, legal counsel, investigators, and other experts.
• Use data, analytics, AI-enabled tools, and digital workflows to improve claim decisions and portfolio insights.

Requirements

• Legal qualification with at least two years of post-qualification experience in insurance, litigation, or defendant practice, or two to three years of experience managing casualty, liability, or general insurance claims.
• Sound understanding of negligence, liability, damages, insurance policy interpretation, and coverage analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication, verbal communication, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities autonomously, maintain accurate claim records, and comply with internal and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work from Sydney with regular office attendance at least three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with public liability, product liability, construction liability, or Finpro claims.
• Previous experience at an insurer or law firm in a claims or litigation capacity.
• Experience with litigation and dispute resolution processes.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled claims tools, digital workflows, or data analytics platforms.
• Experience building trusted relationships with brokers, insureds, and service providers.
