Control Board Operator (Air Separation)

Location: Independence, Ohio, United States. The role operates equipment remotely from a central control location but requires periodic on-site field support at process plants across the United States, including multi-week assignments when needed.

Pay: $38/hour and up, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Remotely monitor and control air separation, high-pressure nitrogen and oxygen, and vacuum swing adsorption production equipment using DCS, HMI, and PLC systems.
• Optimize operating modes, energy use, production output, product inventory, and short-term supply availability.
• Respond to plant upsets, equipment failures, alarms, and process malfunctions while coordinating escalation and continuity of supply.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control-system issues in collaboration with engineering personnel and field technicians.
• Maintain electronic logbooks and case-management documentation covering incidents, communications, and plant readings.
• Provide on-site support for maintenance outages, plant startups, technician training, and leave coverage.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and 5+ years of experience operating a control board in an industrial plant setting.
• Experience with DCS, SCADA, HMI, and PLC interfaces.
• Strong electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting skills, including the ability to interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control logic.
• Ability to diagnose complex process malfunctions independently and make high-stakes decisions under pressure.
• Availability for a rotating 24/7 day-and-night schedule, including weekends and holidays, plus periodic multi-week on-site assignments.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Nice to have

• Two-year technical college degree or military technical experience.
• Air separation or cryogenic plant experience.
• Experience with Google Workspace and digital maintenance management systems.
