Lead Data Engineer

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid working model with work from home and on-site presence at hirify.global offices or client locations. Travel to other offices or client locations is required as needed.

Salary: $140,000–$155,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, implement, and optimize scalable, high-performance data systems and architectures.
• Translate cross-functional data requirements into data engineering and architecture solutions.
• Develop software processes for data movement between data warehouses, data lakes, and internal systems.
• Build and optimize ETL pipelines, data ingestion frameworks, data quality frameworks, and integrated audit systems.
• Establish data quality and governance practices covering accuracy, integrity, and security.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across the data engineering team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• 8–10+ years of data engineering experience designing and implementing scalable data systems.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other relevant programming languages.
• Strong knowledge of data warehousing, cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, ETL, data modeling, and database management.
• Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and data integration tools.
• Fluent English, strong communication and leadership skills, and experience leading small data engineering teams.
