Principal Data Engineer, User Success (Agentic Experiences)

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada

Salary: CAD 120,000–176,000 base salary per year; offers may exceed this range and may include bonuses, stock grants, and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect and implement scalable batch and streaming pipelines for large-scale product telemetry.
• Build AI-ready data products supporting analytics, machine learning, LLMs, and agentic workflows, including embeddings, vector search, contextual access, and feedback loops.
• Partner with AI and machine learning teams on feature engineering, feature stores, RAG systems, and evaluation pipelines.
• Improve data quality, observability, instrumentation, governance, lineage, cataloging, and semantic data models.
• Enable analysts and product teams with trusted datasets, self-service analytics, and AI-assisted exploration.
• Lead cross-functional technical initiatives, influence architecture and standards, and communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform engineering, distributed systems, or related technical roles, including ownership of large-scale production data systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python, Spark, PySpark, advanced SQL, scripting, and reliable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with LLM ecosystems, embeddings, vector databases, RAG, agent frameworks, or orchestration systems.
• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Flink, or Spark Streaming, plus modern data platforms such as Iceberg, Hive, Snowflake, Redshift, or Athena.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including EMR, Glue, S3, IAM, Lambda, and Step Functions.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, define engineering standards, mentor engineers, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with product telemetry, clickstream data, behavioral analytics, or experimentation platforms.
• Experience with Airflow, dbt, Fivetran, or similar ingestion, orchestration, and transformation tools.
• Experience creating data products for product, design, research, analytics, and ML teams.
• Experience supporting LLM, RAG, agentic AI, or internal intelligence workflows in production or enterprise environments.
• Experience modernizing data infrastructure across fragmented systems and evolving requirements.
