Geochemist (Mining Geochemistry)

Location: Candidates must be located in the United States or Canada. Flexible options are available to work remotely or from a hirify.global office, with periodic travel for client engagements, conferences, field activities, and in-person collaboration.

Salary: $100,000–$130,000 annually, depending on experience and expertise.

What you will do

• Lead geochemical characterization programs and laboratory and field investigations for mining projects.
• Conduct and oversee predictive geochemical and hydrogeochemical modeling studies.
• Design, operate, and interpret laboratory testing programs involving mine waste, mine water, and biogeochemical processes.
• Manage multidisciplinary consulting projects from initiation through completion, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and client communication.
• Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, presentations, and other client deliverables.
• Support business development, client relationships, strategic initiatives, and the growth of hirify.global’s geochemistry practice.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Geochemistry, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in mining geochemistry or environmental consulting.
• Experience leading complex technical consulting projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience conducting or overseeing predictive geochemical and hydrogeochemical modeling.
• Professional Geologist (PG/P.Geo) registration or the ability to obtain it.
• Strong technical writing, presentation, client management, business development, and mentoring skills; valid driver’s license and willingness to travel required.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of experience in mining geochemistry or environmental consulting.
• Professional mining-industry network and experience with geochemical characterization, mine water quality prediction, or technical publications.
• Experience with PHREEQC, Geochemist’s Workbench, MIN3P, GoldSim, or similar geochemical modeling software.
• Experience with environmental microbiology, biogeochemistry, geochemical testing programs, laboratory oversight, or code-based workflows using Python, R, or SQL.
