AVID Research and Business Engagement (RBE) Officer (Advanced Materials)

Location: Primarily based at the Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing Centre in Rochdale, with occasional travel to the hirify.global campus and partner sites. Until the SMMC opens in mid-2027, the role will be based at the UoM campus. Hybrid working arrangements may be considered.

What you will do

• Engage businesses, primarily SMEs, in advanced materials innovation projects.
• Provide advice and manage the transition of businesses into assessment and support programmes.
• Support the operational delivery of the Sustainable Materials Manufacturing Centre.
• Engage prospective tenants and users, coordinate visits and onboarding activities, and develop a pipeline of participating businesses.
• Connect regional businesses with national supply-chain opportunities and relevant research, technical, and consortium partners.
• Work across advanced fibres, sustainable polymers, digital manufacturing, and materials for the hydrogen economy.

Requirements

• Experience or capability in business engagement, innovation support, or business development.
• Ability to support businesses through assessment, onboarding, and access to facilities and expertise.
• Ability to collaborate with university research institutes, technical teams, consortium partners, and local government.
• Willingness to work primarily in Rochdale and travel occasionally to the hirify.global campus and partner sites.
