TTI Assistant Research Scientist

Location: San Antonio, Texas, United States. Hybrid remote work is available with three days in a TTI Texas-based office. The primary duty station is the TTI San Antonio TransGuide Building, and reporting there is required for the first 30 days of employment.

What you will do

• Serve as Principal Investigator, Co-Principal Investigator, or a significant lead in research and proposal development.
• Prepare technical reports, memoranda, literature reviews, data analyses, white papers, presentations, and other project deliverables.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage applied research projects, including data collection, dataset development, analysis, documentation, and reporting.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams of research staff, students, and support personnel to deliver research objectives on schedule.
• Present research findings to sponsors, clients, academic audiences, and conference participants.
• Interact with sponsors and potential clients while seeking externally funded research projects.

Requirements

• Master’s degree and three years of related experience, or Ph.D. and one year of related experience.
• Ability to conduct quality, unbiased research and complete project deliverables on time.
• Experience with research documentation, data collection, analysis, literature reviews, and technical presentations.
• Ability to work from the San Antonio, Texas duty station, including required attendance during the first 30 days and three days per week in a Texas-based office for the hybrid arrangement.
• Ability to follow research safety practices and guidelines and pass the required criminal history and credential verification checks.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• GIS analysis experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, or GIS packages in R or Python.
• Big data analytics experience, including processing and interpreting large datasets.
• Experience with statistical modeling and machine learning using R, Python, or statistical software.
• Transportation modeling experience with Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, TransModeler, or similar tools.
