Principal Equipment Engineer - CVD Engineering

Location: Fully onsite in Essex Junction, Vermont, United States. Monday through Friday during daytime hours, with occasional weekend or evening work as needed. Travel up to 10%.

Salary: $85,000–$146,000 per year, based on qualifications, experience, and location.

What you will do

• Own the daily performance of diverse CVD deposition equipment at Fab 9.
• Collaborate with maintenance technicians and process engineers to meet production demands.
• Drive continuous improvement focused on equipment availability, cost reduction, and yield improvement.
• Manage spare parts, repair budgets, suppliers, procurement, and continuity of spare-part supply.
• Install and start up new or retrofitted equipment while supporting cross-functional problem solving.
• Mentor and lead lower-level equipment engineering team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering plus 4–5 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree plus 2–4 years, or a PhD plus 1–2 years.
• Experience troubleshooting electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems, pumps, high-vacuum systems, and RF generators.
• Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and cleanroom facilities.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, planning, organizational, and basic data analysis skills.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is required.
• Ability to lift and carry parts up to 30 lb and work in a cleanroom while standing, bending, or crouching for extended periods.

Nice to have

• Supplier and contractor management experience.
• Experience with PLCs, control systems, and instrumentation.
• Project management experience and ability to communicate project plans.
