Location: hirify.global Vancouver Campus, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; onsite position

Salary: $7,263 CAD monthly ($87,156 gross annual; $46.56 gross hourly)

What you will do

• Install, maintain, inspect, test, commission, and repair university machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose failures using the Building Management System and perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Fabricate parts and components using lathes, milling machines, machine shop tools, welding, brazing, and soldering.
• Install and commission HVAC equipment, including air handlers, and rebuild compressors, pumps, and hydraulic, pneumatic, and material-handling systems.
• Read schematics, blueprints, and operating manuals; prepare written reports and communicate with customers and other trades.
• Use precision alignment tools and coordinate rigging and lifting equipment while following safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Red Seal or BCTQ Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certification.
• 3–5 years of related industrial experience.
• Valid B.C. Class 5 driver's licence.
• Competency in welding and practical knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge of safe power and hand tool use, troubleshooting, problem-solving, workload prioritization, and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively and respect diverse perspectives while developing equity, diversity, and inclusion awareness and skills.

Nice to have

• Machining experience.
• 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate.

Culture & Benefits

• Full-time staff position covered by the IUOE 115 union.
• Schedule of nine weekday shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. over two weeks, with every second Friday or Monday off.
• Overtime may be available at double time, with the option to bank additional time off; evening and weekend premiums may apply.
• Vacation increases with tenure, reaching six weeks at year 18, plus three additional days between Christmas and New Year's each year.
• University pension contributions equal to 9.4% of gross pensionable earnings and eligibility for an annual credit tuition waiver.
