Head of Trading & Risk Management - Battery Storage

Location: The Woodlands, Texas, United States, with remote or hybrid options from offices in The Woodlands, San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, Brooklyn, Denver, Palm Beach Gardens, and Birmingham.

Salary: Starting at $275,000 annually, plus eligibility for an annual bonus program.

What you will do

• Lead the trading team and optimize financial performance across battery energy storage projects within ISO markets.
• Develop load and price forecasting, Day Ahead and Real Time revenue optimization, and trading tools and platforms.
• Manage hedge positions, settlements, credit support, counterparties, exposures, and portfolio P&L.
• Evaluate hedging strategies and ISO asset contracting opportunities while identifying risk mitigation and revenue enhancement opportunities.
• Lead market entry and trading operations for SPP and PJM, while managing existing ERCOT QSE and ISO-NE Lead Market Participant arrangements.
• Build and develop the energy trading function, produce regular reporting, and present P&L analysis to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience trading in North American electricity and natural gas markets with increasing responsibility.
• Experience trading Day Ahead and Real Time markets in ERCOT, ISO-NE, PJM, and other RTOs.
• Strong quantitative, analytical, strategic, communication, and presentation skills, with deep knowledge of trading practices, markets, and risk management.
• Ability to design, implement, and continuously improve automated trading and risk management tools.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams and collaborating with stakeholders across a geographically dispersed organization.
