Senior Manager, Energy Management (Energy Trading)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; hybrid office attendance is expected on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Salary: $185,000–$215,000 USD annual base pay, plus eligibility for an annual cash bonus.

What you will do

• Lead execution of hedging and optimization activities across renewable and conventional energy assets.
• Manage market portfolio exposure and execute transactions across real-time, day-ahead, week-ahead, and balance-of-month markets.
• Execute capacity, resource adequacy, transmission, gas, and structured hedging strategies.
• Integrate battery storage optimization into the broader energy management function.
• Monitor weather, supply, load, transmission, regulatory, and other market fundamentals to inform trading decisions.
• Support project evaluations, contract reviews, due diligence, acquisitions, divestitures, and investments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• 7+ years of experience in energy portfolio optimization, risk mitigation, hedging and trading, contract administration, project finance, or related commercial work.
• Expert understanding of power markets, including forwards, futures, swaps, and options.
• Experience valuing or transacting capacity, resource adequacy, electricity futures, transmission hedging products, or related ISDA and credit support agreements.
• Experience with variable generators, batteries, and natural gas plants, plus sophisticated energy-market risk modeling and strong business analytics.
• No visa sponsorship or employment authorization sponsorship is available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• MBA or MS in a related field.
• Experience with Energy Trading Risk Management systems and multiple ISOs.
• Proficiency with Python, R, or SQL.
