TL;DR
Associate, Energy Management (Renewable Energy): Supporting trading, hedging, risk management, and optimization strategies for renewable, battery, and conventional energy assets with an accent on transaction structuring, power-market analysis, and customer pricing. Focus on negotiating energy-management agreements, developing trade-execution and reporting tools, evaluating offtake opportunities, and tracking regulatory developments across North American power markets.

Location: San Diego, California, United States; hybrid office schedule with in-office collaboration on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Travel up to 25% of the time.

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 USD annually, plus eligibility for an annual cash bonus.

What you will do

  • Support the management, analysis, structuring, negotiation, and execution of energy-management transactions.
  • Coordinate trading, ISO, QSE, investor LLC, and trading-annex documentation through execution.
  • Work with Credit and Energy Risk on internal approvals, project limits, reporting, and trade capture.
  • Communicate market conditions, trading risks, optimization opportunities, and pricing guidance to project stakeholders.
  • Evaluate RFPs, prepare bids and competitive analyses, support customer proposals, and manage procurement participation.
  • Analyze offtake opportunities for M&A and greenfield projects while tracking policy and regulatory developments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in power trading, origination, renewable energy, or another transactional industry.
  • Strong understanding of North American power markets, power-generation technologies, and regulated and deregulated electricity markets.
  • Experience supporting the structuring, negotiation, and execution of energy transactions.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, analytical judgment, and ability to manage multiple projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel.

Nice to have

  • MBA or MS in a related field.
  • Experience working across multiple ISOs.
