Regulatory Counsel (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: San Francisco, CA or Mountain View, CA, United States; at least 3 days per week in the office

Salary: $181,000–$290,000 per year, plus annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Provide actionable legal and policy advice for the hirify.global Driver’s commercial deployment.
• Advise teams on legislative and regulatory developments affecting the business and products.
• Design compliance strategies for evolving federal and state autonomous vehicle frameworks.
• Own compliance roadmaps, including operational authorizations, data and incident reporting, and responses to regulatory inquiries.
• Partner with Government Relations, Safety, Business Development, Product Strategy, and the broader legal team.
• Support targeted projects involving incident response, dispute resolution, and transactional matters.

Requirements

• JD degree and active membership in a State Bar.
• 3–6 years of relevant in-house, law firm, and/or government experience.
• Experience handling complex regulatory and legislative matters across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, manage multiple projects, and provide practical legal advice under deadline pressure.

Nice to have

• Experience in automotive, trucking, or another highly regulated safety-sensitive industry.
• Knowledge of autonomous vehicle laws and safety standards.
• Familiarity with products liability, commercial law, data governance, privacy, or trade compliance.
