Technician, BESS

Location: Onsite in Southern California; must reside in Central to Southern California. Predominantly outdoor work with a minimum of 25% travel.

Annual target total cash compensation: $90,000–$110,000, including base salary and target commission.

What you will do

• Install, configure, and commission BESS components, including batteries, inverters, control systems, and associated electrical equipment.
• Integrate BESS systems with energy management systems in collaboration with project engineers.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repairs on battery storage systems, inverters, and medium-voltage transformers.
• Monitor system performance through SCADA and recommend improvements to optimize efficiency.
• Provide technical support and training to customers, technicians, and project team members.
• Follow safety procedures and applicable local and industry standards when working with high-voltage and potentially hazardous equipment.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of electrical and battery storage systems.
• Working knowledge of SCADA systems and energy management software.
• Strong understanding of OSHA and NFPA guidelines.
• Associate degree or certification in electrical engineering technology, renewable energy, or a related field.
• 1–5 years of experience working with battery storage systems or a related field.
• Must reside in Central to Southern California and be able to work onsite, predominantly outdoors, with at least 25% travel.

Nice to have

• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting wind, solar, or BESS inverters.
• Electrician or energy technician certification.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Experience with Fluence, Tesla, or Powin BESS technology.
