Associate Software Engineer

Location: Remote work from Pennsylvania, United States; US citizenship required

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable, highly available software applications across digital channels.
• Create engineering specifications, write maintainable code, and participate in code reviews.
• Explore technical solutions and evaluate trade-offs involving functionality, scalability, performance, and long-term architecture.
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, story creation, estimation, and task tracking.
• Translate design mockups, prototypes, and user stories into working applications.
• Monitor delivery progress, communicate blockers, and collaborate with senior developers and principals.

Requirements

• US citizenship is required due to contractual and access requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• At least one year of experience with a modern programming language such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experience with at least two of React, Angular, NodeJS, NoSQL databases, HTML5, CSS, web services, Google Cloud Platform, or Amazon Web Services.
• Understanding of REST, HTTPS, JSON, algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and scalable systems.
• Experience with agile Scrum practices, software engineering standards, testing, source control, and production operations.

Nice to have

• Experience with generative AI and the ethical use of AI tools.
• Knowledge of IBM Mainframe technology, COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
• Experience developing healthcare applications or large-scale consumer-facing applications.
• Experience with Visual Studio Code and willingness to learn additional programming languages.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting their professional development.
