Data Center Engineer

Location: New York City, NY; home base in New Jersey with ongoing travel between data centers in New Jersey and occasional travel to Chicago, Mexico, and Canada. This is a non-office-based position with emergency data center attendance and out-of-hours coverage as required.

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead, motivate, coach, and develop the Data Centre team while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
• Manage the team’s book of work, prioritizing operational activities, projects, incidents, and service requests.
• Plan resources across data center locations and coordinate delivery with Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Project Management, and Client Service Delivery.
• Oversee rack and stack, cabling, hardware installation, migrations, cross-connects, circuit testing, inventory, and power-utilization reporting.
• Lead incident and outage response, including escalation, stakeholder communication, restoration, and follow-up actions.
• Coordinate access, shipping, equipment storage, vendors, on-call coverage, and emergency attendance at data center facilities.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in telecommunications or data center-related fields.
• In-depth knowledge of telecommunications structured cabling standards, network device and server deployment, and DCO standards and operations.
• Experience with Building Management Systems, Branch Circuit Monitoring, and mission-critical data center facility maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated people leadership skills, including team development, coaching, resource allocation, and accountability.
• Ability to work Tuesday–Friday from 11 AM to 7 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 6 PM, with Sunday availability and out-of-hours work when required.
