IT Technical Specialist Industrial Placement (AI/Data)

Location: Newcastle Innovation Centre, Newcastle, UK. Year-long industrial placement from 5 July 2027 to 13 June 2028. Financial support may be available for relocation to the internship location.

Salary: £27,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and support IT solutions and innovative applications for live business projects.
• Contribute to AI-driven solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio and Agentic AI frameworks.
• Participate in data engineering, analytics, and AI development projects.
• Build and maintain data pipelines and data transformation workflows using Databricks.
• Develop interactive dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using Power BI.
• Test, troubleshoot, optimise data solutions, and maintain operational documentation.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong technical curiosity and interest in autonomous AI frameworks and practical machine learning solutions.
• Ability to gather requirements from non-technical users and translate operational challenges into functional technical specifications.
• Strong analytical, hands-on problem-solving, proactive, and self-motivated approach.
• Fluent written and spoken English required.
• Must already have the right to work in the UK for the full placement duration without sponsorship from P&G.
