Commodity Manager Professional (f/m/d) (Energy Manufacturing)

Location: Hybrid role based in Bucharest, Romania or Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany; willingness to travel approximately 10–20% for supplier visits and cross-site collaboration.

What you will do

• Develop and implement commodity strategies for the Large Steam and Syncon portfolio in alignment with the global commodity strategy.
• Lead the Commodity Circle and manage the strategic procurement cycle, including market analysis, cost modelling, negotiations, eSourcing events, award proposals, and sourcing board preparation.
• Secure supply capacity and resilience through frame contracts, price lists, multi-sourcing strategies, and risk mitigation.
• Deliver savings, total cost improvements, inventory and cash objectives, and maintain KPI and spend dashboards.
• Drive early supplier involvement with Engineering and Supplier Quality Development to improve manufacturability, quality robustness, and continuous improvement.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships, performance reviews, improvement roadmaps, and executive governance across EMEA and beyond.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain/Procurement, or Business, with professional experience in direct-material commodity or category management in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Experience with heavy-industry products and translating technical specifications into sourcing strategies.
• Knowledge of supplier market analysis, scouting, should-cost modelling, competitive tendering, fact-based negotiations, contracting, and risk management.
• Ability to lead cross-functional commodity teams and influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP and eSourcing platforms, KPI dashboards, and data-driven decision-making.
• Professional fluency in German and English is required.
