Controls Engineer Co-Op (Semiconductor)

Location: Round Rock, Texas, United States; onsite at the hirify.global site. Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., from January through June 2027.

What you will do

• Develop new high-purity solid precursor delivery systems for advanced semiconductor chemistries.
• Create PLC and HMI code from IO sheets, sequence charts, alarm and interlock charts, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
• Support scientists and engineers with controller equipment, sensors, transmitters, remote IO, analog scales, temperature controllers, and other microcontrollers.
• Make online programming changes for equipment retrofits and upgrades.
• Coordinate project timelines, quote components, and order parts from outside vendors.
• Drive safe work, process improvements, equipment reliability, and structured technical problem-solving.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a university co-op program and able to work full time during the January–June assignment.
• Expected graduation in 2027 or 2028, with a major in controls, mechanical, chemical, electrical, computer, industrial engineering, or a related science.
• Understanding of PLC/PAC controllers and IEC 61131-3 programming languages, including Ladder, FBD, Structured Text, and SFC.
• Knowledge of scan time, timers, interlocks, latches, control loops, conditional statements, and electrical inputs/outputs.
• Strong communication, accountability, teamwork, and structured problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python, Ignition, SQL, or similar controls and software tools.
• Experience in a global, multicultural organization serving the semiconductor industry.
