Senior Platform Engineer (Akamai)

What you will do

• Lead the migration of Akamai configuration from manual Control Center changes to Terraform modules, version-controlled rule trees, and reusable infrastructure-as-code workflows.
• Build self-service edge-change workflows with policy checks, automated validation, staging tests, and GitLab CI/CD integration.
• Own Akamai property configuration, DNS, routing, origin selection, failover, load balancing, caching, and multi-region delivery across staging and production.
• Configure edge security controls, including Site Shield, network lists, WAF, bot mitigation, and SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle management.
• Develop Python and Bash tooling for bulk changes, certificate expiry checks, drift detection, inventory reporting, and API automation.
• Diagnose delivery and performance incidents from DNS resolution through edge and origin behaviour, while partnering with application and platform teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in CDN and edge delivery engineering with deep hands-on Akamai expertise.
• Experience with Akamai Property Manager, Control Center, PAPI, rule trees, property activation, Edge DNS, and Global Traffic Management.
• Hands-on experience with the Akamai Terraform Provider, reusable modules, GitLab CI/CD, and Python or Bash scripting.
• Strong knowledge of routing, DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, caching, redirects, rewrites, Cloudlet policies, origin behaviour, and multi-region traffic management.
• Experience with WAF, bot mitigation, Site Shield, network lists, SSL/TLS certificates, certificate chains, SNI, and secure delivery requirements.
• Experience operating in regulated or high-availability environments with formal ITSM and change-control processes such as ServiceNow.

Nice to have

• Akamai certification in Web Performance, Cloud Security, or Media Delivery.
• Experience with CloudFront, Cloudflare, Fastly, AWS networking services, EdgeWorkers, EdgeKV, API Gateway, service mesh, or Akamai DataStream.
• Knowledge of PCI DSS and other compliance frameworks relevant to edge and CDN configuration.
