Staff Data Scientist (Computer Vision)

Location: Hybrid or remote in the United States, with hubs in Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle

Base salary: $191,000–$230,000 per year, plus equity, benefits, and an annual bonus

What you will do

• Provide technical direction for computer vision and machine learning projects focused on document verification.
• Oversee the full ML lifecycle, including data selection, model development, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Guide and mentor data scientists through complex modeling and production challenges.
• Establish technical standards for model development, evaluation, and production readiness.
• Identify risks and opportunities that improve model performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Partner with engineering, product, and customers to translate business needs into modeling strategies and communicate technical decisions clearly.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of professional experience or equivalent, with deep expertise in computer vision and machine learning.
• Experience designing, deploying, and improving production ML systems at scale.
• Technical leadership across multiple ML projects, including mentoring experienced data scientists.
• Strong understanding of data strategy, model development, deployment, and production monitoring.
• Strong technical judgment and written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or a related field.
• Experience with document verification, OCR, identity, fraud detection, or image forensics.
• Experience with transformer-based vision models, multimodal systems, foundation models, or LLMs.
• Experience with enterprise customers or regulated environments.
