Cloud Software Development Engineer (Cloud)

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon, United States. Hybrid work model with time split between the assigned Intel site and off-site work.

Annual salary range: $128,880–$245,160 USD.

Intel's System Simulation and Modeling organization develops simulation, modeling, automation, and cloud technologies for firmware and software development before silicon availability.

What you will do

• Design, develop, debug, validate, and optimize software for simulation, system modeling, automation, and cloud-based development environments.
• Collaborate with firmware engineers, operating system developers, architects, silicon designers, and software teams.
• Build scalable software and automation frameworks that improve developer productivity and product readiness.
• Resolve complex issues involving system software, simulation environments, firmware, and hardware-software interactions.
• Improve performance, reliability, automation, and scalability across development workflows.
• Participate in technical reviews and apply AI-assisted development practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of experience; or a master's degree with 3+ years; or a PhD with 1+ years.
• Experience in software development, large-scale development environments, computer architecture, and system software.
• Experience with C++, Python, or similar programming languages.
• Experience executing technical projects and solving complex engineering problems.
• U.S. work location and on-site presence at the assigned Intel site are required under the hybrid work model.
• This position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with system simulation, virtual platforms, modeling, or emulation environments.
• Knowledge of computer architecture domains such as memory, security, I/O, accelerators, GPUs, or AI platforms.
• Experience debugging firmware, operating systems, device drivers, or other low-level software.
• Experience with cloud-native development, distributed systems, Kubernetes, containers, or DevOps.
• Experience applying AI/ML to software engineering workflows and automation.
