What you will do

• Define, implement, and continuously improve the UK HSE strategy, governance framework, protocols, and standards.
• Lead, coach, and develop regional Safety Managers and compliance specialists across UK sites.
• Act as the senior HSE authority for UK health, safety, environmental, and compliance matters.
• Lead audits, inspections, ISO readiness, incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Oversee safety training, environmental and hazardous-materials management, emergency preparedness, and business continuity.
• Use performance data and KPIs to reduce incidents, advise senior leadership, and represent hirify.global with regulators and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in health and safety or transport safety management, including senior HSE or compliance leadership.
• Experience leading teams in autonomous, decentralised, multi-site, transport, fleet, logistics, or industrial environments.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation, including RIDDOR, COSHH, DSEAR, PUWER, and relevant DVSA and Environment Agency requirements.
• Chartered IOSH membership or equivalent professional status; NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Experience building and scaling HSE programmes, leading audits and certifications, and closing regulatory corrective actions.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom required.

• Experience with autonomous vehicles, advanced mobility, or high-growth technology and operations environments.
• Experience scaling safety and compliance programmes across multiple European markets.
• Experience aligning with major partners’ safety standards and standard operating procedures.
• Environmental management or sustainability credentials such as IEMA.
