TL;DR
Senior Aviation Cyber Certification Engineer (Aerospace): Building Merlin's civil aviation cybersecurity certification discipline, documentation, and compliance evidence with an accent on DO-326A/ED-202A, ARP4754B, and DO-356A/ED-203A. Focus on performing aircraft and system security risk assessments, developing PSecAC artifacts, coordinating with FAA/EASA authorities, and establishing certification processes from the ground up.

Location: Boston or remote within the United States; hybrid workplace. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship or visa transfer.

Base salary: $165,000–$220,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Establish civil aviation cybersecurity certification processes, procedures, templates, and artifact structures.
  • Lead airworthiness security activities under DO-326A/ED-202A and ARP4754B, including threat and security risk identification.
  • Develop PSecAC, Security Development Plan, PSecAC Summary, security risk assessments, verification results, and compliance evidence.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for the FAA, EASA, and other certification authorities or designated representatives.
  • Partner with systems, software, safety, and program management teams to integrate security requirements into development and certification schedules.
  • Own configuration-controlled security certification documentation across civil and military aviation programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6–9 years of cybersecurity or systems security engineering experience, including direct civil aviation airworthiness security experience.
  • Direct experience applying DO-326A/ED-202A, ARP4754B, and DO-356A/ED-203A on aircraft or system certification programs.
  • Experience working with FAA, EASA, or other certification authorities, directly or through a DER/ODA Unit Member.
  • Ability to build certification processes, procedures, and documentation from the ground up.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate across systems, software, safety, and program management teams.
  • U.S. work authorization is required; visa sponsorship and visa transfers are not available.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of RMF, vulnerability assessment, DISA STIGs, IATT, and ATO processes.
  • Experience in aerospace, avionics, autonomous systems, or other safety-critical engineering domains.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or building a security engineering function.
