Kubernetes Engineer (Mid–Senior) | DoD Platform Engineering

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate secure and resilient Kubernetes platforms for DoD environments.
• Automate infrastructure and platform configuration using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Build and improve GitOps and CI/CD workflows and integrate Kubernetes with cloud services, registries, and delivery pipelines.
• Implement Kubernetes networking, RBAC, security controls, service-to-service communication, and Istio service-mesh capabilities.
• Develop reusable platform components, including Helm charts, Operators, Controllers, CRDs, and Admission Controllers.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across Kubernetes, Linux, networking, containers, and cloud infrastructure while partnering with application, cloud, security, and architecture teams.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building, operating, or supporting Kubernetes environments.
• Strong knowledge of Linux, networking, containers, and Kubernetes architecture.
• Proficiency with Helm and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS/EKS, Azure/AKS, GCP/GKE, OCI, or similar.
• Practical experience with GitOps, CI/CD, automated deployment workflows, Kubernetes security, access controls, and RBAC.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Nice to have

• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
• Deep experience with Istio or service mesh.
• Experience developing Kubernetes Operators, Controllers, CRDs, or Admission Controllers.
• DoD Enterprise DevSecOps Reference Design experience.
• Software development, scripting, platform automation, production platform, federal, regulated, or security-focused engineering experience.
