Analytics Engineer (Databricks)

Location: United States; hybrid work with periodic travel for in-person events

Salary: $106,080–$119,340 annually

What you will do

• Evolve the shared data warehouse, reporting schema, semantic layer, and reusable data assets.
• Design and maintain data models, transformation pipelines, and data products for scalable self-service analytics.
• Refactor tables and pipelines to improve performance, cost efficiency, and maintainability.
• Implement automated data quality frameworks, validation logic, monitoring, and alerting for critical datasets.
• Translate data governance requirements, including retention, deletion, PII handling, and access controls, into production systems.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Applied Analytics and Research, Data Governance, analysts, researchers, and data scientists.

Requirements

• Must live in the United States or its territories.
• Must be willing and able to travel for periodic in-person events, including retreats and leadership sessions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–8 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related data platform role.
• Strong SQL, data modeling, dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, and Python skills.
• Experience with enterprise data warehouses, cloud platforms, Databricks, Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables, workflows, semantic layers, data quality, documentation, and Git.

Nice to have

• Advanced Tableau experience and familiarity with Alation, Atlan, or similar metadata tools.
• Experience with Agile collaboration, higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven technology.
• Databricks, dbt, or equivalent data engineering and cloud platform certifications.
