Lead Analytics Engineer (Databricks)

Location: Oak Brook, Illinois, United States; hybrid

Salary: $102,600–$193,425 annually, plus benefits, 401(k) contribution, and eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Design and maintain curated Gold-layer data models, domain data marts, and conforming dimensions in Databricks Unity Catalog.
• Define governed enterprise metrics through Unity Catalog metric views for consistent use across SQL, dashboards, BI tools, and AI agents.
• Build modular Databricks SQL and PySpark transformations, declarative pipelines, streaming tables, and embedded data quality tests.
• Develop Databricks AI/BI dashboards, migrate legacy report logic, and retire redundant or conflicting reports.
• Lead modeling, naming, testing, metric, documentation, and code-review standards while mentoring engineers and analysts.
• Establish data contracts, lineage, metadata, self-service query experiences, CI/CD workflows, and data protection controls.

Requirements

• Hybrid work in Oak Brook, Illinois, United States.
• 4+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, data warehousing, or business intelligence, including 2+ years with Databricks.
• Expert SQL and strong Python skills, including PySpark, production transformations, automation, testing, and reusable tooling.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, medallion architecture, dimensional modeling, and data marts.
• Experience with enterprise metrics, dashboard development, data quality, documentation, lineage, Git, CI/CD, and access controls for sensitive data.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent relevant experience; ability to travel up to 5%.

Nice to have

• Databricks or Azure certifications.
• Experience with Unity Catalog metric views, Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines, Lakeflow Jobs, and Declarative Automation Bundles.
• Experience building AI skills, prompt libraries, agent configurations, Genie spaces, or natural-language data access experiences.
• Experience with data observability, data quality tooling, agile or scrum methodologies, and large-scale SQL refactoring.
