Databricks Data Engineer (Risk Technology)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid work with 2 days per week on-site at 70 W Madison St

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 per year for the Chicago market, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines with Azure Databricks and Apache Spark.
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT frameworks that ingest structured and unstructured data into cloud platforms.
• Engineer and publish curated datasets for business intelligence tools and downstream applications.
• Support AML Technology and other applications used by the US Risk Management business.
• Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions across the software development life cycle.
• Document delivery activities and implement secure coding and DevSecOps practices.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of software engineering experience and a relevant post-secondary degree.
• Hands-on Databricks experience implementing ETL processes.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience in PySpark or Spark SQL.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, databases, cloud computing, or application development and support.
• Understanding of banking fundamentals, risk management, capital stress testing, credit risk models, or regulatory compliance.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States at the specified location; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with C# and .NET.
• Azure certification such as AZ-900.
• Experience with Azure services, machine learning, PostgreSQL, Azure Blob Storage, or Azure DevOps.
