Intern - Research & Development - Lab Assistant (Next Generation Sequencing)

Location: On-site in Burlington, North Carolina, United States. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

What you will do

• Learn clinical testing workflows and the processes used in test development.
• Learn and apply techniques related to Next Generation Sequencing.
• Lead development of a genetic transplant assay.
• Maintain clear, thorough, and accurate laboratory notebooks and experiment records.
• Analyze complex biological data using Microsoft Excel.
• Support Sanger sequencing, Next Generation Sequencing, and antibody assays for bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation services.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
• Interest in clinical testing, molecular research, chemistry, biology, or related laboratory sciences.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow laboratory procedures.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision, communicate clearly, and maintain professional conduct.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Preferred candidates are rising juniors or seniors graduating between December 2027 and June 2029, although all currently enrolled relevant students may apply.

Nice to have

• Three to six months of experience in cell biology or molecular biology laboratory classes.
• Three to six months of knowledge or experience with Next Generation Sequencing technologies.
• At least one year of Microsoft Excel experience.
